How to Contribute

(Public) github.com

  1. Find the file that corresponds to the page you're trying to edit and press the pencil / edit button. Red arrow pointing to the "edit file" button on a GitHub .md file.

  2. If you do not see the following text, your changes will be instantly deployed to the GitBook site after entering a commit title. Screenshot of text on a GitHub page that reads "You’re making changes in a project you don’t have write access to. We’ve created a fork of this project for you to commit your proposed changes to. Submitting a change will write it to a new branch in your fork, so you can send a pull request."

  3. If you do see the above text, you will need to create a pull request and include additional information.

  4. At the bottom of the editor, there are 2 inputs and a Propose Changes button. Enter the a title that states which file you have created or edited, e.g. Created README.md or Updated README.md and then press the Propose Changes button

  5. Complete the two new fields with as much detail as possible and then create the pull request.

  6. Someone will merge the PR or request changes before they merge.

  1. Press the blue Edit button to enable the editing mode

  2. Make some changes by adding or changing pages, sections, groups, text, links, etc

  3. Press the purple Merge or blue Submit for Review to push through your changes.

  4. If you submitted changes for review, you may need to change some parts of your edit before they're approved.
